Argo is an international collaboration that collects high-quality\ntemperature and salinity profiles from the upper 2000m of the ice-free\nglobal ocean and currents from intermediate depths. The data come from\nbattery-powered autonomous floats that spend most of their life drifting\nat depth where they are stabilised by being neutrally buoyant at the\n\"parking depth\" pressure by having a density equal to the ambient pressure\nand a compressibility that is less than that of sea water. At present there\nare several models of profiling float used in Argo. All work in a similar\nfashion but differ somewhat in their design characteristics. At typically\n10-day intervals, the floats pump fluid into an external bladder and rise\nto the surface over about 6 hours while measuring temperature and salinity.\nSatellites or GPS determine the position of the floats when they surface,\nand the floats transmit their data to the satellites. The bladder then\ndeflates and the float returns to its original density and sinks to drift\nuntil the cycle is repeated. Floats are designed to make about 150 such\ncycles.\nData Management URL: http://www.argodatamgt.org/Documentation\n\ncdm_data_type = TrajectoryProfile\nVARIABLES:\nfileNumber (File Number)\ndata_type\nformat_version (File format version)\nhandbook_version (Data handbook version)\nreference_date_time (Date of reference for Julian days, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\ndate_creation (Date of file creation, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\ndate_update (Date of update of this file, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nplatform_number (Float unique identifier)\nproject_name (Name of the project)\npi_name (Name of the principal investigator)\n... The use of elephant seals has been particularly effective to sample the Southern Ocean and the North Pacific. Other seal species have been successfully used in the North Atlantic, such as hooded seals. These hydrographic data have been assembled in a quality-controlled database, the MEOP-CTD database.\nThese data are profiles of temperature (°C). Each profile is located in space and time. It must be emphasised that the dataset of each individual CTD-SRDL has been edited and corrected separately, as a given CTD-SRDL has its own specificities in terms of data accuracy and quality of the estimated correction. A post-processing procedure is applied on hydrographic data in order to ensure the best possible data quality. The use of ordinary litter provides a realistic model for studying ocean currents, while also being cost-effective and easily assembled by makers, associations, and schools. The drifters feature solar panels for energy and transmit data via GSM. The project aims to enhance monitoring efforts and raise awareness about marine litter in alignment with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. The drifters are equipped with self-sustaining solar panels and transmit data through the GSM network. The novelty lies in the specially created software that records data in case of signal loss and transmits it as soon as the signal returns.\n\ncdm_data_type = Other\nVARIABLES:\nmission\nID (drifter ID)\ntime (seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\ndrifter_type\nspeed (km/h)\ndirection (degrees)\ntemp_surface (C)\ntemp_air (C)\n https://erddap.emodnet-physics.eu/erddap/metadata/fgdc/xml/CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter_fgdc.xml https://erddap.emodnet-physics.eu/erddap/metadata/iso19115/xml/CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter_iso19115.xml https://erddap.emodnet-physics.eu/erddap/info/CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter/index.htmlTable http://www.ismar.cnr.it/ (external link) http://erddap.emodnet-physics.eu/erddap/rss/CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter.rss https://erddap.emodnet-physics.eu/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter&showErrors=false&email= CNR-ISMAR CS_Sea_Clenar_mini_drifter
