The data set consists of maps of total velocity of the surface current along the Catalan coast averaged over a time interval of 1 hour around the cardinal hour. Surface ocean velocities estimated by High Frequency (HF) Radar are representative of the upper 1.3 meters of the ocean.
ICATMAR HF Radar Network has been established with the support of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund and the fund provided by the Government of Catalonia. The network has been designed, implemented and managed through the efforts of the Direcció General de PolÃtica MarÃtima i Pesca Sostenible (Government of Catalonia) and the Insitut de Ciències del Mar (CSIC), Barcelona.
